When I was first starting out adulthood, I swore my house would always look so festive for the upcoming holiday or season; I quickly realized that I couldn’t afford to decorate each season and I certainly did not have a creative bone in my body to come up with what looked good together, until now! With Pinterest it has become so easy to find decorating ideas, free printables, and repurposing solutions! Pair this with an awesome sale at the store to pick up a few decor items and we have a festive house for the season!
This year I was able to decorate for fall for a grand total of $42.65 using things I had around the house, free printables, coupons, and store sales! Wanna know how? Keep reading to find out!
We first will start with the Front Door. Originally at Michaels this was $16.99, but it was on sale 60% off making it only $6.79. Perfect addition, although I wonder if it is too narrow, what do you think?
The entry table was easy with Michaels, again 60% off all Fall Decor! So the garland ended up being $4.99, the Printable I grabbed from Kurtz Corner for free as one of their free printables; I had the frame already. I picked up 2 bunches of Sunflowers for $2.49 each and had the metal container on top of my kitchen cabinets that I borrowed for the season. The cute rustic pumpkins ranged on sale from $1.99 to $2.79, depending on the size, and the fall sign was $3.99.
We swing over to my stair nook with another free printable from Creatively Southern, which was a big fat zero and we dressed up the nook! If you wanted I think some of the cute rustic pumpkins would go nicely as well to tie everything together, maybe I have to run back to Michaels!
The fireplace/ mantel I have a love/ hate relationship with when decorating. I find great ideas and they don’t come out how I hoped or my daughter rearranges the living room for me with the decorations (see picture, literally 5 minutes after they were on there)! The pillows are slipcovers that I had on hand from last year. I bought the fabric at JoAnns on sale and probably with a coupon to make them. I just recover existing pillows that are in the livingroom. Super easy sewing project! The garland is from last year as well, but matches the one I bought this year as well as the “Happy Fall Y’all” sign (I mean you can’t live in Texas without something you own saying y’all!). The branch wreath I picked up at JoAnns last year for like $3.00. I also added some more of the cute rustic pumpkins from Michaels this year.
We will see how long my table looks this cute with #4 playing with it! I might have to move it to the counter, but it consists of the rustic pumpkins from Michaels, the awesome truck I picked up for $5.99 and the most amazing tree stumps my brother in law made me years ago, before it became the trend! Check him out here; he’s awesome, maybe if you beg and plead he will make you some!
My house completely decorated for under $50.00 and yours can be too!
A couple things I have learned about seasonal decorating.
#1 Don’t throw things away you don’t like anymore or are sick of! Keep them around because you never know when you will love them in a new area or repurposed into something new!
#2 Take advantage of sales before the holidays/ seasons and after! Many a times I buy decor after the season for 80-90% off and use it the following year! Try to pair the sales with coupons for even more savings!
#3 Michaels and JoAnns have become very MILITARY friendly (thank you for doing this!) and offer discounts when you show your military ID! It allows you to save even more, so take advantage of that if you have one!
On that note, Happy Fall Decorating Y’all! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! For fall decorating ideas click here and see where my inspiration came from!
