Serves: 8

Prep time: 40 minutes

Cook time: 22 minutes

Total time: about 1 hour

Ingredients for Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza

  • 16.5 oz tube of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp caramel sauce
  • ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 green apple
  • 2 twix bars
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling

How to Make this Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza Recipe

  • To make your apple dessert pizza, you’ll want to start by getting your crust ready so that it has time to cool while you prepare your toppings! Making the crust is simple with premade sugar cookie dough.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
  • Press the dough into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Bake your crust for about 22 minutes or until it’s just starting to turn golden brown.
  • When the crust is finished cooking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the crust from the pan and place it in the fridge to chill while you make your toppings.
  • For the “pizza sauce” of your apple dessert pizza, you’ll mix together the cream cheese, vanilla, caramel, and powdered sugar until they are well combined.
  • Add in the heavy whipping cream and mix with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
  • Place the sauce in the fridge until you are ready to assemble your pizza.
  • In the meantime, you can dice up your green apple and chop up the Twix bar.
  • When everything is cool you are ready to put together your apple dessert pizza.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture on top of the cookie crust.
  • Sprinkle one the apples and chopped Twix bar.
  • Drizzle as much caramel sauce as you want on your pizza and it’s ready to serve!

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • You can use whatever caramel topping is your favorite, but I highly recommend Smuckers Caramel Sauce. It’s so delicious and pairs perfectly with the other flavors in this recipe.
  • If you want a nice thin crust on your apple dessert pizza, you can use half the tube of sugar cookie dough instead of the full tube. You’ll want to bake it for about 14 minutes instead of 22 for a perfect golden crust.
  • Don’t have a springform pan sitting around? They are pretty inexpensive and such a good thing to have in your kitchen. I love this Cuisinart 9-inch Springform Pan. It comes from a great brand and the nonstick coating is so helpful!
  • If you want your cream cheese mixture to be smooth , you’ll want to take out the cream cheese a half hour or so early so it can soften. It’ll make sure your sauce is nice and smooth.

Is this a good recipe to make with kids?

Absolutely! This recipe will be such a fun family activity, not to mention a delicious family treat. Spending time cooking with your family can be so much fun!

Even your little ones could easily help out with pressing the cookie dough into the pan, stirring, and of course, putting the pizza together.

If you are worried about baking the crust with kids around, you can always bake it beforehand and bring the kids in the kitchen once it’s chilled.

Do I need to peel the apple before dicing?

That’s completely up to you! If my kids are around I will sometimes peel the apples so I don’t have to worry about it.

However, that bright green peel is so beautiful on this pizza. Leaving it on will look and taste great!

Storage

Fridge

This recipe will store in the fridge for about 2-3 days in an airtight container. You might find the crust becoming a bit soggy and the apples turning brown, but it will still taste delicious.
