I am always on the hunt to find new books that may interest them that they wouldn’t have selected themselves. I am sharing my list of the best books for 9 year old girls that have been a favorite in our home.

Babysitters Club by Ann M. Martin
In the series Babysitters Club the girls are trying to start a babysitting club and their parents are very supportive of the girls mission. These books are a great read for any 9 year old girl because the characters are very responsible and always find a way to have fun. The books focus on the fun and skills babysitting and caring for kids.
American Girl Books
There are plenty of American Girl Books to choose from. You can start with this year’s Girl of the Year book. It’s called Joss: Touch the Sky and is a book about confidence in life and in her gym activities. American girl books are the perfect books for 9 year old girls because it always has a life skill to teach them about everyday issues they may face no matter the era they live in.
Geronimo Stilton Books

In the book P.S. Longer Letter Later two best friends have to continue their friendship through old fashioned letter writing after one of their families moves away to another state. This book shows how friends can cope with the moving of one’s best friend.
The Confidence Code Journal
Girls are known to worry a lot about their looks and what others think. In The Confidence Code Journal you’ll find that it is packed with quizzes and challenges that teach a girl to take risks, deal with failure and be who they truly are. Charlotte’s Webb is a classic book everyone should read. It teaches the importance of friendship, love and how we should all treat each other.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Wonder is an excellent book to read with your 9 year old girl. This book teaches so much about role models and the importance of being kind to others. This book does hold a lot of emotional content so just be sure your 9 year old is mature enough and ready to handle the cruelty the main character Auggie suffers in his life. This is a great one to add to your list of books for 9 year old girls.
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
Number the Stars is a historical book about how people would have to hide and run from the Nazis. It really dives deep into how families were scared of the Nazis and it portrays a family that took in their daughter’s best friend as part of their family. This book will teach bravery and how to be a great friend.
The One and Only Ivan by K.A. Applegate
The One and Only Ivan is a fabulous book for any elementary and middle school aged. It is such a great animal story that takes place at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade. This book has sadness but it is handled with tenderness. This book is surely one to add to your list of books for 9 year old girls.
