  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Waffle batter should be a little on the thicker side whereas pancake batter is a lot thinner. You want to think of it like the consistency of honey. You want to make sure the lumps are removed from the batter as well.

Yes, you want to grease your waffle iron! The best way to do this is with cooking spray. You can also grease your waffle iron with butter or oil.

The only time you don’t want to grease your waffle iron is if it is a non-stick waffle iron.

 

Why do waffles stick to the waffle iron?

There are a few things that cause your waffles to stick to the waffle iron.

The first cause is not spraying your waffle iron with cooking spray. If you do not have a non-stick waffle iron you need to spray it.

The second cause is pouring batter into your waffle iron prior to it being hot enough. You definitely want to make sure it is the right temperature before making waffles.

The third thing is you fall victim to impatience. Sometimes we want to check on our waffles too early wreaking havoc on them and having your waffle split in half! So, keep your waffle iron closed while it is cooking. You will know that your waffle is done once their is no more steam coming out of the waffle iron while it is cooking.

But if you prefer a softer waffle you can reheat your waffle in the microwave. You just want to do it in small increments (10-15 seconds at a time) because cooking them for too long will make them rubbery.

If you are reheating a bunch of eggnog waffles at once the best option might be in the oven. You will want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and cook them for 10 to 15 minutes.

Be sure to loosely cover with foil so they don’t dry out, but yet the steam can still escape so they can crisp up a bit.
