Cereal Pancakes Recipe

My family just discovered cereal pancakes and I don’t think breakfast will ever be the same!

Yes, they are exactly what they sound like! Cereal pancakes are the cutest tiny pancakes that are served in a bowl just like cereal. You can add berries, strawberry sauce, chocolate chips, nuts, syrup, honey, or whatever your family likes.

I really like that they are so versatile. I like to make a big batch for breakfast and grab out whatever fruit, nuts, or toppings we have. All I have to do is set everything out and my kids can make their own unique combinations!

It’s also a great way to switch up your breakfast routine. My kids get sick of our regular options and this fun new treat is a great start to our days!

How to Make this Cereal Pancakes Recipe

  • To make your cereal pancakes, start by preheating your griddle or a large fry pan.
  • Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix the dry ingredients until they are well combined.
  • Add the egg, milk, and oil and whisk together the batter until it’s smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a plastic squeeze bottle and place the lid on the bottle.
  • Squeeze circles the size of a dime onto the preheated griddle and let them cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Flip the circles and let them cook an additional 1-2 minutes until they are golden brown.
  • Continue this process until you’re out of batter.
  • Serve the pancake cereal hot off the griddle with butter, syrup, or your favorite fruits.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you don’t have buttermilk, you can substitute regular milk. The buttermilk adds great texture and flavor to pancakes. So if you do use milk you could also add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar to the milk before adding it to the batter to make your own soured milk!
  • You might want to use a bowl with a pour spout on it if you have one to make pouring the batter into the squeeze bottles easier. If not, you could use a funnel to help you make sure all the batter gets into the bottle and not on your counter!
  • Make sure that your griddle isn’t too hot! These pancakes are pretty small and can burn easily. You may want to use a lower temperature than you would when making regular-sized pancakes. Either way, make sure that you stay close so your cereal pancakes don’t get more than golden brown.

Do I add milk to my Cereal Pancakes?

Nope! No milk is needed for this “cereal”. Your kids may want to try adding milk to make it really seem like cereal, but they’ll soon learn that this recipe is much better without milk making it soggy!

Instead, add your favorite syrup or sauce right on top of your pancake bites for the perfect breakfast.

Storage

Fridge

You can store cereal pancakes in the fridge for about 5-7 days! I like to preheat my oven to 375 degrees and pour the leftover mini pancakes on a baking sheet and bake them for a few minutes to reheat them.

Fridge

If you put these in a freezer-safe airtight bag, you can store your cereal pancakes in the freezer for up to 4 months!
