Dr. Seuss Themed Rice krispie Treats

Ready to get a little nostalgic? We all grew up reading Dr. Seuss’s One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. As a kid, it was one of the first books I was able to read all by myself! I still remember that feeling of accomplishment when I turned the last page. Now I have watched my own kids enjoy Dr. Seuss’s many books, first with me reading to them and then by reading them on their own!

It’s a big deal when a kid finishes reading a book by themselves for the first time and what better way to celebrate than with a Dr. Seuss themed treat? These Dr. Seuss Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect way to congratulate your child on a job well done. You will love how simple and quick these are to make. Your kids will love helping you decorate them and they’ll love the taste even more!

Recipes like this one are so easy to include the kids in making. They are simple and help kids learn in the kitchen and be creative. We also love this unicorn poke cake, air fryer donuts, and homemade Oreo ice cream for their simplicity and how much our kids love to help with them! We know you and your kids will love them too!

How to Make Dr. Seuss Rice Krispie Treats

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Melt the candy melt according to the package instructions.
  • Place the straws into the bottom of each of the Rice Krispie.
  • Dip the treats at an angle into the melted candy. Cover most of the front and top of the treat.
  • Immediately add goldfish and sprinkles (for bubbles in the water).
  • Place treats on the parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Let sit for 20-25 minutes.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Make sure to place the parchment paper on a baking sheet for easy transport if you need to move the treats before they are dry!
  • Avoid dipping the entire treat into the melted candy. If you dip the whole thing, there will be a thick coating around the edges that isn’t as cute or easy to eat. Only dip the front and top of the treat!
  • Do not burn the candy melt. One way to avoid this is to purchase candy melt already in your desired color, rather than trying to color it yourself.
  • Any leftover candy melt can be poured into a Ziplock bag. Lay flat until hardened. When you want to reuse it, simply melt it the way you did originally and it is good to go!
  • Mix it up with the colors and theme! You can really use any color of candy melts for this fun recipe, as well as any kind of toppings. The options for how many different themes you can do are limitless! Have fun with it!

Storage

Once unwrapped and dipped, Rice Krispie treats will keep at room temperature for about 2 days. If you need to store them for longer, store them in a Ziplock freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months!

Can I use white chocolate?

If you prefer, you can use melted white chocolate chips and dye them any color that you want. With this method, you run a greater risk of burning the chocolate and you may not have as bold of a color on the chocolate.
