How to Make Firecracker Popcorn
Whether you are headed to a Fourth of July Celebration or staying home and having a movie marathon, this Firecracker Popcorn makes a fantastic snack. Honestly, the hardest part is finding the Pop Rocks! Why on Earth are they so hard to find these days? If you can’t locate them in your town, have no fear Amazon is here! You can order Pop Rocks right here! You will want blue Pop Rocks and well as Red Pop Rocks so your popcorn is extra festive.
Directions for Firecracker Popcorn:
First, you will want to pop some plain popcorn. No butter, no salt just good ol’ plain popcorn. (I know I am a butter fan too, but you definitely want plain for this!
After you pop the popcorn you will want to spread the popcorn over a cookie sheet. I love these extra large cookie sheets for making this.
Note on the cookie sheet: These extra large cookie sheets also work great for homemade granola and other things that make a lot that you need to spread out. So totally worth the investment.
Then, in 15-second intervals, melt the white chocolate on medium power. Carefully stir in between each interval. Continue until all the chocolate is smooth.
Once the chocolate is melted, drizzle the white chocolate evenly over the popcorn.
Sprinkle both the Red and Blue Pop Rocks over the melted white chocolate.
Let stand until chocolate has set. To speed this process up you can place the baking sheet in the fridge for a few minutes.
There you have it Perfectly delicious Firecracker Popcorn!
Few More Tips about Firecracker Popcorn
I love packaging the Firecracker popcorn in cute little bags so everyone has their own to carry around with them. The bags I love the most I find at Joann’s in the $1 section and they are the perfect size for this recipe!
Once you fill the bags I like to sprinkle a little more Pop Rocks on the top to give it a little added color to make it look extra festive with some more sparkle and pop!
Another thing I love about Firecracker Popcorn is the recipe is so forgiving! You can cook more or less popcorn. You can add more or less white chocolate because let’s be honest, I love white chocolate so I use more! And if you want to add more pop of flavor you can add more Pop Rocks, heck if you want it to be more festive add some Fourth of July Sprinkles.
