Life UnEdited #17
I Know this Guy
I know this guy! He is pretty awesome. No matter what, he is always there for me. This guy has helped me through my lowest of lows and my highest of highs. This guy is funny and smart. He does anything and everything for his family. This person is my Dad! He is my hero.
I remember growing up that my dad was pretty strict. We did not get away with much. But this shaped me into the person I am today. Whenever I was thinking about doing something wrong his face would pop into my head. I chose not to do it about 85% of the time because let’s be honest… I am a little stubborn a trait I got from my dad!
My Dad has always been there for me. Growing up I always loved my dad, but when I went through my divorce 6 years ago something changed. He and I became so close. To be honest, he became the person I needed most. Talking to him picked me up and made me keep trying.
Since then he has still been this person. He is the one I call for advice or help. If I am bored, 9 times out of 10 I am going to call my dad to see what he is up to! When I see In-N-Out or Popeyes I am calling Dad to let him know I am thinking of him. (His two favorite places to eat!)
A few months back we got to go on vacation with my parents. We went to Maui. And we had so much fun! We laughed. As well as talked. And we reminisced about old memories. We shared Pulled pork sandwiches at the pool that no one knew about.
But you know what Hawaii did? Hawaii made me miss my dad, even more, when I came home. I miss living near my parents. Getting together for dinner, meeting for lunch. Knowing that he was just a quick car ride away. If you live away from your parents you will totally understand what I am talking about. If you live near your parents treasure it. Because I did not treasure it enough when they were only a hop skip and a jump away.
Thank You Dad
So, this is for you Dad! I love you! Thank you for always being there for me! Thank you for the laughs. As well as the shoulder to cry on. Thank you for supporting me in my dreams. And for being there to catch me when I fall. I know everyone says they have the best Dad in the world, but I know that I have the very best one! You have taught me how a husband should treat his wife as I have watched you love mom unconditionally. Not only that, but you have also taught me how to work hard. And be honest in all that I do. You taught me what true sacrifice is all about. No matter what you have always put us first. So dad, thank you! Thank you for loving me and always being there for me.
