Sometimes in life, we are completely busy, running around completing all kinds of tasks on our to-do list. We live in a constant state of being overwhelmed, but we have helps for the overwhelmed mom!

Every mom wakes up each morning with a long list of things they need to do. They instantly wake up feeling overwhelmed. The weight can be unbearable with the endless lists and responsibilities in our lives. Questions running through our heads literally every moment of the day. How many loads of laundry need to be done in order for my kids to have clean clothes to wear to school tomorrow? Is there anything in the fridge or freezer that we can put into the Instant Pot for a quick dinner? When is a good time to get reading in for my kid’s homework? Is my daughter doing okay in school?
I need to tell you something though….
Everything is going to be alright!
I’m sure you’re asking yourself how the heck I would know things are going to be okay in your circumstances.
I will tell you how.
Because you’re trying, and that’s enough!
One of my favorite people in the world said, “Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead.”
Being a mother is often a thankless job. We work tirelessly to ensure other people’s happiness, and it can be VERY overwhelming. Letting it take over who we are isn’t the answer.
So how do we overcome being in an overwhelmed mom all the time? We have the answers right here!
Helps For the Overwhelmed Mom
Do Something For Yourself
I’m not saying you have to go out and buy yourself a new pair of shoes (although that could definitely help). Find something you enjoy. For me, I really like to read and go on walks with friends. Ask your husband for 30 minutes to an hour by yourself to take care of you! Use this time to read a book, to sit in the tub with some bubbles and just relax!
Figure Out What You CAN Do and Control
Stop focusing on all of the things you feel like you aren’t getting done. Things just spiral downward with this kind of outlook. Think of the things that you are succeeding at. It can even be something little like being patient with your wriggly toddler that wants to play instead of putting clothes on. Okay….let’s be real, that is not something small, that is something that deserves a sticker on the behavior chart you have on the wall for your kids.
Take it One Day at a Time
Perspective is weighted pretty heavily in how we conduct our thoughts and actions. When we are looking far ahead and speculating “what ifs” constantly, it isn’t healthy. Take each day as it is. Don’t constantly worry! Know what you need to do and get it done as you can. I’m not saying looking to the future is bad, but letting it overtake us isn’t helpful.
Decide what is really imminent. Are there things that don’t need to get done today? Is your plate overflowing with unnecessary expectations you have for yourself? All moms think they always need to be perfect and have it all together. This makes you feel overwhelmed. Figure out what is at the top of your list and weed things out.
You Aren’t On Your Own
I’m pretty positive that every mom that has ever existed on this planet has felt overwhelmed at one time or another. Reach out another overwhelmed mom. It doesn’t matter if they are a grandma of 100 grandkids or a brand-spankin’ new momma that just got home from the hospital. We can all relate to one another. So let’s support one another and get through this hard spot in our lives.
As an overwhelmed mom, don’t suffer in silence. Talk it out with someone. It helps! Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean you are worthless or are a weak or bad mom. It’s okay to need some help and guidance.
Whatever you do, keep your head up and find some help in working through it!
