We have a crazy little toddler boy, but let me tell you how swim lessons changed our toddler and not in some crazy way! Enrolling Tony in swim lessons was the best thing we could have ever done and here’s why!

There is this little guy in our life who is CRAZY! His name is Tony and he is almost 2, but the destruction he can cause in about 15 minutes you would think he was a 10 man wrecking crew! I felt like my life was always in chaos constantly chasing him down saving him from breaking a bone or something in our home.
One day I looked at my husband and said, “Why? Why is he like this? We have never had a child in as much stuff as he is?”
He looked at me and said, “Maybe he needs an outlet! Let’s put him in something!”
And let me tell you, it was the best thing we could have ever done for Tony and us!
Our First Visit to Aqua-Tots
From the moment we walked into Aqua-Tots Tony was engaged! He happily played in the waiting area with the other kids while he waited for our turn to go swimming together. Once it was our turn his coach called for him and off we went! We started off singing songs to get the kids used to the water. After that, we did various other things to teach them life-saving skills, but having fun all at the same time!
I was a little timid the first day barely letting him go under, but of course, he loved being in the water! As we were there he had a smile on his face the whole time! When it was time to go, he wanted to jump back in the water! I reminded him it was time to go, but we would be back again tomorrow because he goes twice a week!
After Swim Lessons at Aqua-Tots
After swim lessons that day we headed home and he took the best nap ever! Obviously exhausted after swim! When he woke up he ran into the bathroom and the next thing I knew he was headed out with a swim diaper!
I asked him if he wanted to go swimming and he happily shook his head yes! I told him that we would tomorrow!
Day 2 at Aqua-Tots
The next day, dad got the chance to swim with Tony! They were more adventurous and had so much fun! The whole time our cute little Tony was smiling from ear to ear! I could see him and his dad bonding in the pool having fun learning and growing together!
What Parent & Tot Swim Lessons at Aqua-Tots Teach Tony
So we have been doing swim with Tony at Aqua-Tots for 6 weeks now and we have seen him grow so much in the water and out of the water.
First, in the water, we have seen Tony develop skills to help save his life. He is learning to turn underwater and turn to the wall and go back and pull himself out of the pool. He is also learning how to hold his breath under the water, to kick his feet, and other basic water safety skills.
But his growth goes far beyond that as well! You remember that crazy boy that destroyed everything that I told you about? Well, there has been an improvement with that as well.
How Swim Lessons has Helped Tony out of the Water
Tony has learned to listen. At swim, he has to sit on the step and wait. He has to wait until I say three to jump in as well. Doing these things has taught him to listen to what I say. This listening has transferred to home as well! If I tell Tony to wait he does more often. If I say not right now, he listens about half the time, which is way better than before.
He is following basic instructions. This again began at swim. “Tony we are going to get the ring.” “Tony on three we can jump in.” “Tony we are going to swim to coach.” He follows these simple commands in the pool and has begun to follow simple instructions at home. “Tony it is time to pick up.” “Tony go put that in the trash.”
Lastly, he is learning to be safe. At swim, he is learning to be safe and that is transferring at home. If I tell him not to do it because he is going to get hurt he thinks twice about it and listens about ½ the time.
Tony has developed friends, not just family members who are his friends! Tony has not been exposed to many kids his age, but at swim at Aqua-Tots he is! With small class sizes (up to 4 kids) he has really bonded with friends. He is learning to play with them which has helped him develop friendships outside the pool.
Tony is no longer using our house as his personal jungle gym because he now has an outlet for all his little boy energy that he has!
Parent & Tot Swim lessons are helping Tony not only in the water but out!
Bonding with Tony at Swim Lessons
Tony has always been the child that gets dragged everywhere. To baseball practice, to school drop offs and picks up, you name it he has been dragged there! Parent & Tot swim lessons have been all about him, and he has loved every minute of it! Ty and I take turns taking Tony so he has the opportunity to bond with both of us. Swim lessons have allowed us to grow and bond as we teach him the skills he needs!
Tony has always been a mama’s boy, but now after bonding with dad during swim, he loves hanging out with dad reading stories, watching a show, and working in the yard together! Their bond is 100 times better thanks to Parent & Tot Swim Lessons!
We are loving Parent & Tot classes at Aqua-Tots! We love Tony’s growth in the water and out! Swim lessons are teaching him lessons in the water and out! I wish we would have stated swim lessons sooner with him because it was the best thing we could have ever done with him!
