Directions for Making Strawberry Freezer Jam
The first thing when making strawberry jam is you are going to prep your containers. You want to wash them in hot soapy water. Then you will want to dry them completely.
Once the containers are prepped then it is time to prep the strawberries. You will want to wash and dry the strawberries then cut the tops off and cut them in half.
Once you have cut them in have you need to crush them. You can do this a couple of ways: you can do it with a food processor or you can do it with a potato masher.
When it comes to your strawberries for your freezer jam you can crush them as much as you want. If you want them totally pureed go for it… If you want some chunk still go for it! However, you like it! Just make sure no matter how you do it that you have two cups of strawberries after you have crushed them.
Once your strawberries are prepped. Add the sugar to the strawberries and mix. Set a timer for 10 minutes. During the 10 minutes stir about 2 times.
Meanwhile, while the mix is sitting, bring to boil your water and the pectin in a small saucepan at a medium-high heat. Once boiling, let it boil for 1 minute. Then pour the water mixture into the strawberry mixture. Have it sit for 3 minutes before pouring it into the containers.
Once the strawberry freezer jam is in the containers, wipe the lids and the seals. Place the containers on the counter with the lids resting on top (not screwed on) for 24 hours.
Once they have rested on the counter then put them in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy your strawberry freezer jam.
The strawberry freezer jam lasts 3 weeks in the fridge and lasts up to 1 year in the freezer.
