Mornings can be rough. I’ll be the first one to admit it. With the busyness of getting the kids ready for school, making breakfast, trying to fit in some self-care, and everything else you have on your plate, it may not always feel like everyone is starting their day in the best moods.
If you’ve read my post about Positive Affirmations for Kids, you know how strongly I feel about the importance of using powerful statements to encourage them and add some joy to their day. So what better time to use positive affirmations than in the morning!
Why are Positive Affirmations Important for Children?
Positive affirmations are so amazing! I love using positive affirmations in my own life, but I would dare to say that they are even more influential for my kids.
These simple phrases aid your children in improving their emotional regulation skills. Your kids are still learning how to develop their emotions and work through them in an effective way.
Having a set of phrases that they either say or hear you say can help them make sense of the jumble of emotions that they are dealing with!
Similarly, if you are using words of affirmation to confirm your love for your child, it will help them to feel that love! As mother’s we know that we are showing our love by helping our kids, cleaning, making them meals, playing with them, etc. but sometimes they need to hear you say it too!
What’s So Great About Morning Affirmations for Kids?
It’s always a good idea to make self-care an important part of your morning. Affirmations and other similar practices can help start your day off with a better mindset.
This is no different for your kids!
Your children need to feel affirmed and strengthened as they prepare for their days too! It’s just a fact that starting your morning right helps improve your day and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that I want my kids’ days to be the best that they can be.
Morning affirmations are also a good idea for the morning because they can easily be added to a morning routine. Whatever your morning routine is in your home, you can easily set aside a few moments for some positive affirmations.
The most important reason that you should add morning affirmations into your kids’ morning schedule is that it’ll help them be more confident!
A confident child will do better in school, be more kind and compassionate to others, and have better social interactions!
How to Use Morning Affirmations for Kids
There are two main ways that you can incorporate morning affirmations for kids into your day.
The first type is words of affirmation that you can say to your children. Either you or your husband can make sure to express your love to your child each morning! Pretty simple, right?
Words of affirmation are a great way to affirm your child’s importance in your life and strengthen your bond and relationship with them.
The great thing about this type of morning affirmation is that it’s great for any age. You can use positive affirmations with your infants just as well as you can with your teens! Every child will benefit from hearing how much they matter to you!
The second type of morning affirmation is phrases or words that your child will use on their own. They’ll most likely need your help to incorporate this into their morning routine, but if they are old enough they may be able to do it on their own.
It would be a great family project to come up with some positive affirmations for each individual that are tailored to their lives and personalities. You could even write them down in each of your child’s rooms to be a reminder!
Positive affirmations that your child says to him or herself will help them take back control of their emotions.
They work for your kids just like they do for you! They bring more positivity and add strength. In fact, they are even more important for your children because they are still learning to regulate the emotions that they are feeling.
Whichever method of morning affirmations that you decide to try out with your kids, they will be better off because of it!
