Nothing makes my husband happier than walking into the kitchen to see me making Oreo truffles. They are his absolute favorite, and I can’t resist them either!

Whenever I tell someone how to make oreo truffles, they are so surprised that they are so simple. All you need is Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate! Isn’t it great when something so delicious is so easy to make?

The classic oreo truffle is great, but you can also make tons of variations with this recipe, like my mint cookie truffles, and they’ve all been a huge crowd-pleaser.

This time I decorated them with red, white, and blue for a patriotic twist and they turned out so darling! They’d be perfect for Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, or the 4th of July!

Seriously, this oreo truffle recipe is fool-proof and so good!

  • Here’s how to make Oreo truffles decorated perfectly for any patriotic day! First, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Use a food processor to crush the 36 Oreo cookies until you have smooth fine crumbs.
  • Add the crushed cookies and softened cream cheese to a large mixing bowl and mix them together until the mixture is smooth and has no chunks of cream cheese or cookie.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to scoop some of the truffle mixture and use your hands to form it into a ball.
  • Place the ball on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the remaining truffle mixture.
  • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes to let the truffles harden.
  • When the truffles are set, break apart the almond bark and place it in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Melt the chocolate by microwaving it for 1 minute, stirring, and for an additional 10-20 seconds at a time until it’s completely smooth and melted.
  • Use a fork to dip a truffle into the melted chocolate, making sure to coat the entire ball.
  • Shake off the excess chocolate and place the truffle back on the baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining truffles.
  • Let the truffles sit for about 10-15 minutes so the chocolate can harden.
  • If desired, dip the truffles again for another layer of chocolate.
  • In 2 separate bowls, melt each of the colors of candy melts by microwaving them for 30 seconds. Continue heating for 10-20 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until the chocolate is almost melted. Then continue stirring until it’s perfectly smooth.
  • Transfer the colored chocolate to piping bags, resealable bags, or squeeze bottles.
  • Drizzle the truffles with the red and blue chocolate and immediately add sprinkles before the chocolate sets.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Make sure that the cream cheese is completely to room temperature before making these truffles! If it’s still cold, you’ll end up with chunks of cream cheese instead of a smooth chocolate and cream cheese mixture in the truffles.
  • It’s way easier to make this Oreo truffle recipe with parchment sheets instead of the roll. Parchment rolls always roll around which can make decorating your truffles a little tricky! I grabbed a huge pack of parchment sheets and it’s been perfect for this and other recipes!
  • Dipping the truffles is so much easier with a tall bowl instead of a short wide one. I like using a glass measuring cup because it’s the perfect size for me to drop in a truffle and completely submerge it for the perfect smooth coating of chocolate.

Storage

Store your truffles in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge!

How can I make my Oreo truffles look nicer?

Let me tell you my trick for getting the most perfect, round, uniform truffles ever.

After letting your truffles sit in the fridge for a half hour, take them out and re-roll them. Trust me! Once they have hardened in the fridge, you’ll be able to have more control and make them the perfect little truffle balls.

Then when you start dipping, only take a few truffles out of the fridge so that they are still chilled when you dip. This will prevent any Oreo getting into the chocolate so it’s a perfect white.

There you have it, the perfect truffles!
