How I Make a Purposeful Plan for the Day

We love to tell ourselves that we don’t need a plan for the day, but in all actuality we do! This plan for the day helps us to stay on track and helps us fulfill our purpose. It also allows us to get more things done each day.
At the beginning of each day, I reflect for a few moments on what I want to accomplish that day.
It might be as simple as take Talie to the park to play or as difficult as getting the shed painted!
By coming up with what I need to do and what I want to accomplish allows me to go through the proper steps to make this happen. It makes a cohesive plan for the day!
After I have determined what I want to get done, I write it down!
Yes, I write it all down i.e. shower, exercise, pick kids up, read Bible, laundry, play outside with the kids etc.
Everyone should have a to-do list!
I love this one because it has “must do” items separated from other to-do items.
It also allows for how much water I have been drinking throughout the day, my exercise habits, has a small shopping list, as well as meal planning, and important times to be places!
As a bonus, it even has a place to write down what you are grateful for!
After your plan is written you get to work. The question of what you should do is no longer an issue because it’s all written down!
Do you need to do laundry today? Well, go throw it in on your way to another item on the list.
Have 5 minutes before you are walking out the door?
What on your list takes 5 minutes that you can do before you go? Do it!
Once you finish – cross it off!
There is so much satisfaction when you do this!
Why I Plan For The Day
There are two reasons I make a List.
#1 If I don’t make a list I get less done. I spend most of my day wandering around thinking I could do this or that without ever doing anything! Sound familiar?
Or I fall victim to the social media curse “because I only have a few minutes” and can’t come up with something to do so I might as well sit here for a few minutes… 45 minutes later…
#2 I actually have more time to do things that are important to me because I schedule them.
It’s important to me that I spend time with my kids. It’s important to me to watch The Bachelor on Mondays with Ty (shh! Don’t tell him I told you that he watches it)!
Since these things are important I make sure they get done and prioritize. When I don’t write it down, I can get so carried away with mundane tasks like laundry and dishes that I forget that I didn’t play with the kids that day.
At the end of the day when you are exhausted and feeling like you got nothing done, you can then refer back to your list and discover just how much you did!
Seeing how much you accomplish each day will bring you right out of mom funk mode!
