Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • You have got to try making your own pumpkin pie spice! I’ve got the best recipe for pumpkin pie spice that is quick to bring together and stores just as well as a jar you would get in the store. You’ll never want to buy it pre-made again!
  • If you don’t have a pastry brush to brush your donuts with oil, you can also use a cloth or paper towel to gently dip and brush your donuts. Just be careful that you don’t use too much pressure so that they keep their puffy donut shape!
  • You can serve the donuts warm or cooled down! I can’t resist a warm donut but I sure do find myself reaching for seconds or thirds once these are cooled down as well. If you do prefer a hot fresh donut, be sure to let them cool down enough that you can handle them to add the topping.

Storage

Store your donuts at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You may want to save some of the topping to use before serving!

Can I use a donut cutter instead of rolling the dough?

I would recommend using my method of rolling the dough and connecting the ends instead of a donut cutter for this recipe.

Since there is no yeast in the recipe, it doesn’t puff up as much as a standard fried donut. Using a donut cutter may leave you with flat and dense donuts.
