Have you ever thought to make your own homemade pumpkin pie spice? Crazy right?
For so long I would buy those little red containers at the store that are both overpriced and small.
Every time I would need this spice I found myself running to the store to pick up a small bottle because I never had one on hand.
Until one day I decided that it was probably super simple to make my own… Guess what? In less than 5 minutes I had my very own homemade pumpkin spice mix, and it was way cheaper to make than buy at the store!
What can I use if I don’t have pumpkin pie spice?
Pumpkin pie spice is something that I never have on hand. Before I really started baking and cooking I thought the only way to cook when it called for this was to run to the store and grab it!
Boy, have I learned over the years! This pumpkin spice mix is basically a combination of basic spices which include, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and ground cloves.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Makes 6 tablespoons
Ingredient

- 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground allspice
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cloves
- Small bowl
- Whisk
- Airtight container /mason jar

Making your own pumpkin pie spice is incredibly simple! Most of the spices are ones you have on hand it takes just a few minutes to make.
- In a small bowl, mix all ingredients together until well blended.
- Store in an airtight container, I love to store mine in a mason jar.

In all actuality, apple spice is very similar, almost identical really. The only difference is the ginger that is missing.
