Tips on how to update your child’s bedroom on a budget
If your kids are like mine, they are always wanting to change how their room looks! My first reaction is, of course, seeing $$$$ signs as to how much this project will cost and the work that will go into it. But what if I told you that you can redo your child’s bedroom on a budget, but still look great?
Guess what? I have great news for you! Redecorating your child’s room does not need to cost an arm and a leg! It is easy to redecorate your child’s bedroom on a small budget and have it still look great!
Come up with an Idea!
The first step in redecorating is to come up with an idea or a theme! This can be easily done by talking with your child. Maybe they have a certain color they love or a certain idea in mind. My favorite thing to do is to take the kids down to the store and see what they fall in love with! Homegoods is a great place to do this because they have lots to choose from at deep discounts! My girls fell in love with these fairy pillows so we built the entire room around them!
After a theme is chosen, it is time to think about paint! Now, a lot of people debate if they should paint or not, but painting is a great way to update the look of the room and just make it look fresh again! Plus the paint is not very expensive and can be bought just about anywhere!

Invest in Quality Furniture
At some point in our life, we have probably all bought a cheaper piece of furniture and then regretted that decision. Cheaper furniture does not normally hold up over time, so you want to invest in quality furniture. The good news is you can still get quality furniture at low prices at places like Discount Direct.
Solid wood furniture is always a good choice as this type of furniture is built to last and will stand up to wear and tear better than cheaper alternatives. Metal pieces can also be another great option in terms of longevity.
Design your own rugs
If you have hardwood floors you usually will want a rug to make the room look cozier. But those are so expensive! So instead of paying a lot of money for a rug head to your local carpet warehouse and ask to buy some of their carpet off-cuts. Most carpeting companies sell their offcuts for next to nothing, which is ideal if you are on a budget and need a DIY rug.
To create rugs for your child’s bedroom, cut the carpet offcuts in circular or square shapes and you will have a selection of rugs.

Dress the Room Up a Bit!
The last thing you will want to do is dress up the room a bit! Buy a chest that matches to hide toys in, and cute bin to hold all their stuffed animals. My daughter loves her book bin right next to her bed to read stories! And you can’t forget about the big giant stuffed animal we picked up at Costco for dirt cheap to snuggle in! These little touches are simple and cost-effective, but make the room feel complete!
So there you have it! 6 things you can do to redo your child’s bedroom on a budget!
