How to Make the Best New Year Resolutions

It’s a new year, and that means everyone is making New Year’s Resolutions! Setting goals is one of my favorite things to do, and I often don’t wait around for a new year to set new goals. But I do love the reflection New Years’ resolutions bring, especially as a mom.

This year I really wanted to focus not only on my own health but making sure I’m instilling good healthy habits in my children as well. So I decided to start small and bring you along on my journey!

Living a healthier life isn’t just about exercising and working out all the time. It’s about eating healthy and supplementing with vitamins too! We all need a little extra nutrition with how busy our schedules are, am I right?

I’m going to share products I love that may give you some good new year resolutions ideas and easy ways to stick with them!

 

Tips for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

 

Meal Plan

I LOVE meal planning. Yes. It seems overwhelming at times, but I have found that meal planning truly lessens my stress and makes my week go smoother. If I make it a routine, it happens and my whole family really benefits.

Part of meal planning is making a grocery list of foods that are for all meals. I make sure to plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks!

Just to give you an idea, for breakfast, I always make sure to get Green Giant Veggie Hash Browns because they are quick to cook up during our busy morning routine! They are absolutely delicious and have a full serving of cauliflower in them. I love sneaking veggies in wherever I can with my kids (and my husband).

Be sure to buy versatile foods! We also use Green Giant Veggie Hash Browns for after school snacks because they don’t have preservatives or artificial flavors. Green Giant also has a lot of different varieties that are available at Walmart. I plan on buying and trying the Cauliflower Gnocchi next.

Eggs and fresh fruit are other staples I keep on hand for breakfast as well.

For lunches, I try to stray from prepackaged foods and pack lots of fruit choices!

When I plan for dinner, it’s a family affair. We all have a meal of choice we contribute to the schedule. If it’s an extra busy week and we don’t have time to sit down as a family, I always use a premade weekly meal plan that we love.

 

Make Time for Exercise

Want to know a secret? You don’t need a gym membership to exercise! Having a gym membership is nice, but honestly just making time to take a walk or get some extra movement is making progress.

The biggest mistake I see people make is to just expect fitness to find its way into their schedule. Let’s face it! If we don’t plan it into our schedule, it isn’t going to happen.

Take a daily family walk or jump on that treadmill that is gathering dust in the corner. It doesn’t have to be for an hour. Fifteen minutes is a great place to start!

My other tip is to keep things posted around your house to remind you! I put things in my planner in plain sight to make sure I can check it off my list. It helps me feel accomplished!

 

Why do we make resolutions at New Year?

I feel like this is an age-old question. Why set a New Year Resolutions? Honestly, it is just a new clean slate to start off with. It’s super convenient and that seems to really help us when we are trying to gauge our time with goals for things.

So, do you need to wait for a new year to start to get healthy or stop a horrible habit? Nope! But it sure does seem to get us all going.

    I’m still working on my meal planning, but I do it weekly and so far it’s cut back a lot on grocery costs, and helps me not buy junk. I’ve lost 5 lbs so far with meal planning.

    Great tips. Meal planning is definitely an easy way to eat healthy. You have things planned out and are less likely to fall into the junk food trap. I also love having healthy frozen staples on hand. They’re great for day when you don’t have much time to cook.

    Love all these tips!! I really need to get better at meal planning. I only plan a few days at a time and I really need to plan out at least a week at a time! I always end up ordering out because I dont have anything to cook at the end of the week.
