Ingredients for Tropical Magic Bars

Tropical Magic bars are so rich and luxurious with only a few simple ingredients. They’re perfect for snacking at home or bringing to a party to share!

24 golden Oreos

4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups vanilla (white) chocolate chips

6 oz package dried pineapple

1 cup sweetened coconut

4 oz dry roasted macadamia nuts

14 oz sweetened condensed milk

How to Make this Tropical Magic Bars Recipe

To make these tropical magic bars, you’ll start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees.

Next, you’ll prepare an 8×8 pan for your bars by either spraying it with non-stick spray and flour or adding parchment paper. The bars will be pretty gooey and sticky so you don’t want them to stick!

Now you need to get started on your crust. In a food processor, mix together your Oreos and melted butter until it begins to look like wet sand.

Pour the crust mixture into the prepared pan and press firmly into the bottom. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.

While the crust is baking and cooling, you’ll start on the rest of your bars. You’ll first need to prepare the macadamia nuts and pineapple.

Start by crushing the macadamia nuts in a food processor until they turn into crumbs. You can also chop the dried pineapple into small pieces. Once these two ingredients are prepared you can start layering your bars!

First, add 1 cup of the chocolate chips right on top of the crust. Next, sprinkle the coconut, pineapple, and nuts into the pan.

Open your can of sweetened condensed milk and pour it evenly on top of all the ingredients. Sprinkle on the rest of the chocolate chips and a bit of coconut and your bars are ready to bake!

Turn the oven temperature up to 350 and bake the bars for 30 minutes, or just until the sides begin to turn golden brown.

When the bars are finished, allow them to cool to room temperature and then cover with foil and put them in the fridge to chill. Let the pan chill for 2-3 hours to let the bars set.

When you are ready to serve, let the bars sit on the counter for 15-20 minutes so that they can come to room temperature.

Tips and tricks for Tropical Magic Bars

  1. If you don’t have a food processor, you can still make this recipe! Instead, you can crush your Oreos in a plastic bag until they are very fine and pour them in a bowl. Add the melted butter and mix together with a fork until it’s to the right consistency. You can also crush the macadamia nuts in a bag, or in a blender if you have one!
  2. Aluminum foil is perfectly fine for covering your pan while it chills, but I also really recommend getting some glass pans with lids like these ones. They make storing foods like these so easy and keep things airtight and fresh.
  3. This is a great recipe to make for a party or bring to a potluck. Not only will it be a huge crowd-pleaser, but it’s also really easy to make in large portions. If you want to double the recipe, you’ll want to use a 9×13 pan instead of the square pan. Just double the ingredients and follow the recipe just as you would making a single batch.

How should I store Tropical Magic Bars?

If you have extra bars, you can store them in your fridge in an airtight container. You can continue to store them in your pan if it has a lid, or you can cover tightly with foil or plastic wrap.

If your bars are covered completely, they should last for about a week and still be just as delicious!

Can I serve Tropical Magic Bars warm?

The reason that you want to chill these bars is to help them stay together. These yummy gooey bars definitely need some time in the fridge to set.

I will say, if you don’t mind the bars falling apart, they are so good served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Can I make this recipe without any nuts?

Absolutely! These macadamia nuts pair so beautifully with the tropical flavors, but if you don’t like nuts or have an allergy, you can leave them out.

If you want to substitute the macadamia nuts for something else, you can use cashews or almonds as well!
