I don’t mean to brag, but I am outdoing myself lately for my kids with all the fun desserts! First I made my Rainbow Poke Cake, then my super yummy strawberry cinnamon rolls, and now I’ve got this Unicorn Donut recipe!
This Unicorn Donut recipe is so simple you won’t believe it! It starts with a basic sweet baked donut recipe and then I make it extra magical by adding a little color, sparkle, and sprinkles.
I think my daughter’s eyes popped right out of her head when she saw these. And we all couldn’t keep our hands off them!

Unicorn Donuts
This Unicorn Donut recipe can be dressed up or down because it’s so basic and delicious! You can make these unicorn-style, sweet and simple, or anything in between!
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour, scooped and leveled
- Silicone donut pan
- Mixing bowls
- Electric mixer
How to Make a Unicorn Donut

- First, preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Then prepare your pans by greasing them with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the butter, vegetable oil, and sugar. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture until it’s smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and beat again to combine.
- Next, add the baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt and stir until combined.
- Alternate adding the flour and the milk a little at a time, gently stirring after each addition to fully combine. The batter should be pretty thick!
- Next, spoon the batter into the prepared donut pans, filling them to about ¼ inch shy of the rim of the pan.
- Bake the donuts for 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Remove the pans from the oven and let the donuts cool for about 5-7 minutes in the pans.
- Once cooled, turn the donuts onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
- Ice your donuts in your favorite icing and don’t forget the unicorn sprinkles!
