It’s that time of year, you know the time that we are all running around hustling and bustling to get something done? Well, this year, I made it my motto to slow things down and really enjoy the Christmas Season! One of the ways we are slowing down is by starting a tradition in our neighborhood. It is similar to “You’ve been booed”, but instead it is “you’ve been Elfed!”

There are other names for this tradition, some of them include: “You’ve been jingled” and “You’ve been Elf-ed.” But regardless of what people call it is a great way to spread holiday cheer this year!
How do you start the “You’ve Been Elfed” tradition?
It is simple to start the “You’ve been Elfed Tradition!” Basically anytime after Thanksgiving and before Christmas you bake (or buy) some tasty treats attach the FREE You’ve been Elfed Printables. (You can grab these below!) and secretly drop them off at a neighbor’s home on a cute plate or a Christmas tin like these! It’s sort of like doorbell ditching, but with a tasty treat so it is totally acceptable.
Honestly, my kids love Elfing people because it is the only time I let them ring the doorbell and run away! Do your kids love to do this too?
What happens after you elf someone?
After you doorbell ditch LOL The You’ve been Elfed instructions and treat they post the “You’ve been Elfed” sign in their window or on their door. They do this so everyone knows Christmas Cheer has already been spread to that house. Then they go ahead and prepare or buy a special treat. After that, they copy the “You’ve been Elfed” Printables. This includes the poem, sign for the window, and the instructions. Once this is done then it is time to doorbell ditch the Elf treat on someone else’s doorstep in the neighborhood!
The kids love Elfing people!
Honestly, kids love to elf people! My kids are growing up way too fast (teenagers now) and they still love this tradition! We usually go ahead and elf 2-3 homes to begin with. This ensures that the tradition gets going! Then after that every day they make us drive the neighborhood to see where the new You’ve been Elfed signs are!
