How to Make restaurant style guacamole

The first thing in making restaurant style guacamole at home is using the best ingredients! This doesn’t mean spending a lot either! Picking fresh tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeños and of course avocados is key to making a good guacamole!

So, How do you pick a good avocado?

The first step in picking a good avocado is making sure it is not too soft! Too soft means over ripened and potential brown spots.

The next step is a trick I learned so long ago and it seriously works every time. When you are trying to pick a good avocado you take that little brown leftover steam and you flick it off. If what you see is green, it is a good avocado, if it is brown that means you should put it back because it already has brown spots on it!

If the avocado passes these two tests then it is good! Certainly avocados are not always going to be perfectly ripe at the store. I normally leave these on my counter for a day or two to ripen them up. Once the avocado is ripe I put it in the fridge to stop the ripening of it. And that is how you pick a good avocado from the store!

Ingredients of restaurant style guacamole

  • 3-4 avocados
  • 1/4 c Red onion chopped
  • 2 tsp of garlic
  • 1/2 bunch of cilantro chopped
  • 1 jalapeño seeded, chopped really small
  • 1 tomato diced
  • 1/2 cup of lime juice
  • 1 squirt of Sriracha
  • Salt to taste

Steps of making restaurant style guacamole

Start by halving the avocados, set the pits aside! We will want to save those! Then mash the avocado in a bowl. Depending on how chunky you want it depends on how you do this. We like ours chunky so I take a fork and sort of just break it up leaving big chunks. If you like it more creamy use the fork to break up and the big chunks.

After the avocados are mashed to your liking, add in the other ingredients and mix them together! It really is that simple!
