What is the Elf on the Shelf?
If you are new to the Elf on the Shelf, welcome to this fun new tradition. When the Elf on the Shelf first appeared years ago, he originally would sit on the shelf and every night would report to Santa if the kids were good or naughty. Since then, the Elf on the Shelf has changed just a bit.
Each morning your elf is hiding or perhaps causing a little bit of mischief that the kids will find. My kids love looking for our elf every morning.
Once the elf is found, he/she will watch all day to report to Santa that night if they were naughty or nice. But be careful; if your kids touch the elf, he loses his magic, and they won’t be able to fly back to Santa that night.

What are good elf on the Shelf Names?
When it comes to naming your Elf on the Shelf, there is no wrong name! That said, you may want to take a little time to think about it!
When our Elf first arrived at our house many, many years ago (12+ years), I let the kids pick it. The boys instantly picked Buster after Buster Posey, who Colby loved at the time. Since then, Buster comes every year, hides, and offers so much joy and laughter.
Some kids, on a whim, may name their elf Princess Starfish Dolphin which is great too.
The most important thing about naming your elf on the shelf is ensuring that your kids L-O-V-E IT! It is the perfect name for your elf if they love it.
