Tips and tricks and FAQs
- Don’t get impatient with your candy melts! I know you can’t wait to enjoy these delicious treats, but make sure you follow the directions and microwave at intervals to make sure that it’ll end up nice and smooth. Stir in between melting intervals as well.
- If you don’t have piping bags, you can always use Ziploc bags in their place by snipping the corner! But piping bags are surprisingly inexpensive and great to have around. Grab a big set of disposable piping bags and they’ll last you quite some time!
Where can I find candy eyes to purchase?
Usually, candy eyes are pretty easy to find during the fall. You can often find them right at your local grocery store or craft store.
I really love the Wilton brand candy eyes. They are always really good quality and end up looking so fun on these Oreo Halloween treats!
How should I serve Oreo mummy cookies?
This is my favorite part about this yummy treat.
You can easily serve them right on a plate or serving platter with your friends or family members, but there are also some cute ways you can dress them up!
Try adding a candy stick in the center of the cookie to make a mummy pop, which will help your kids avoid sticky fingers! You can also bag a few of these up in plastic gift bags, tie them with a string and give them out as fun Halloween gifts or party favors!
Storage
Store your mummy cookies in an airtight container on the counter. They should last 4-5 days.
Freezer
If you want to save your cookies for later you can freeze them as well. Place them on a single layer on parchment paper and freeze them. Once frozen place them in a Ziploc bag. You can pull out as many treats as you want this way!
