As moms, we blink and suddenly our kids are another year older, another grade smarter, and somehow a whole lot taller. That last day of school always sneaks up on me—filled with all the feels. That’s why I love doing a Last Day of School Interview with my kids.
It’s become one of our favorite little traditions. We grab the same printable each year, sit down with some snacks, and chat. Their answers always surprise me—sometimes sweet, sometimes silly, and always a little reminder of who they are right now. And when we flip back through the old ones? Cue all the mom tears.
Why You’ll Love Doing This Too
These end of the school interviews are not just another thing to add to your to-do list. It’s about pausing for five minutes and soaking in this moment. They grow and change so quickly—and this simple little activity captures a piece of their personality you’ll never want to forget.
You’ll love asking them things like:
- “What was your favorite subject this year?”
- “Who made you laugh the most at school?”
- “What do you want to be when you grow up (this week)?”
- “What are you most excited for this summer?”
And trust me—one day, you’ll find yourself looking back and smiling when your future astronaut suddenly becomes a pizza chef with dreams of a YouTube channel.
When I do these end of the year interviews, I love to film them and ask a variety of questions. I then give them the end of the year interview printable and let them write down their answers. This allows me to remember all the things, like their cute handwriting!
Make It Even More Fun
Snap a picture of them on the last day (bonus points if they hold the printable!). Let them draw a picture of themselves. You could even have siblings interview each other. Turn it into a mini family celebration!
Sharing is Caring
If you love this Last Day of School Interview as much as we do, I’d be so grateful if you shared it with another mom friend! Whether you text it to your bestie, pin it for later, or post your kiddo’s answers on Instagram—tag me @micheletripple, I’d love to see it! 💛
📌 Pin it, share it, print it, and enjoy every little giggle and goofy answer.
