Best Splurge!: Telestrations

Benefits of Playing Board Games:

  • Board games have a way of bringing people together! Whether you are with your family or friends, there is something about getting everyone around the table and breaking out a game.
  • Games can reinforce skills your kids are learning.  Things like reading a card during Trivial Pursuit or counting the dots on some dice. Your kids will be learning and not even know it!
  • Board games can teach patience. Everyone takes their turn and you wait until it is yours. You don’t always win, but you can learn to be happy for whoever does!

How to Pick the Right Game:

  • Know your audience: Some games are better for kids and some games should be left to adults. Look at the box, there is always an age guide. Those guides are typically accurate.
  • Know your numbers: How many people are playing? This makes a big difference on what games you can play. Most games give you a number of players that the game can be played with.
  • Know your time: How much time do you have to play? It’s a good idea to look at the rules if you are unfamiliar with a game. Typically the more instructions it gives, the longer it will take to play.

The Best 10+ Player Board Games:

We’ve rounded up the best games for a crowd! Whether it be with family or friends, or both! These games are sure to create an unforgettable game night.

Herd Mentality

Herd Mentality is great for a big group or a herd of people! This game can be played with up to 20 people, and it doesn’t take forever; you only need about 30 min. The game is played by a person choosing a question card. Your goal as a player is to anticipate what almost everyone else will answer when deciding how you will answer the question. This is a game where you don’t want to stand out but be a part of the herd. Holy cow, this is a fun game!

Moose Master

This game is a great icebreaker if you need one. You start the game with 2 rule cards (ie, don’t use anyone’s first name, you need to blink 2 times before you speak). There are Moose Master cards and penalty cards as well. The rules can be ridiculous, but you are at the whim of the moose master! If you don’t follow the rules, there will be penalties. Honestly, I don’t know what is funnier, the rules or the penalties for breaking them. Either way, there will be a lot of laughter! Great for all ages!

Sequence

This game brings back so many memories of family game nights. My kids always asked me to play Sequence! Play a card from your hand and a corresponding chip on the board. The first person to get 5 in a row wins. This game is amazing for all ages and can be played with individuals or teams. A little bit of strategy in this one goes a long way.

Telestrations

Telestrations  is a classic and is always dependable for a good time. With this expanded pack, you can play with up to 12 people! A round can easily be played in 15 minutes. This game is the visual version of the “telephone game mixed with Pictionary.” So much fun to see everyone’s drawing skills…or lack thereof.

Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit

No game list would be complete without some Harry Potter. My kids are huge fans and love to show off how much they know. It’s even more fun when adults get in the mix! Great for the trivia lover in all of us, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit is a go-to for family game night.

Apples to Apples

We can’t stop laughing when we play Apples to Apples . You take turns picking a subject card, and everyone else has to pick a card out of their hands that best fits in with that subject. You think you know someone until they don’t choose your card!

Family Feud

I love playing Family Feud on the couch while watching it on TV. Now you can play it at home! Guess what the survey says, and the team with the most points wins! You can break up into teams or play individually. Either way, this game is sure to get the party started.

Clue Master Detective

Clue was hands down, my favorite game when I was a kid. This version of Clue takes the fun up a notch. More weapons, more clues, more rooms, and more people can play! Just when you think this classic game couldn’t get any better, Clue Master Detective comes along and makes you fall in love with the game all over again.

Exploding Kittens

This is hands down one of our family’s favorites! We love that we all can talk and catch up as we play Exploding Kittens. Don’t draw the exploding kitten! The last one standing wins the game. So simple to set up and play. It is so much fun to discover cards with animals or some kind of cat on it that you haven’t seen before. Perfect for all ages!

Resistance

This game is perfect for those who like a little more strategy. It is the Resistance against the government; who will win? If you’re good at reading people and you know when someone is lying, then you will come out on top of this one! Fun, cooperative game that gets everyone interacting and talking.
