Something that I love about this recipe is that it’s not super messy! A lot of chocolate dipped pretzels recipes make such a mess. But with this method, you can dip these right in the piping bag.

But even if I made a huge mess making these it’d be worth it because they are so yummy. You can make these treats with twists or rods and either way they are so much Halloween fun!

  • To make your mummy pretzels, start by adding your candy melts to a piping bag and microwave on high for 30 seconds.
  • Press the bag and move around the chocolate to prevent burning.
  • Microwave the bag again for 30 seconds.
  • Press the bag again until the chocolate is completely melted.
  • When the chocolate is melted, take the bag and place it in a tall cup. Fold the edges of the bag over the top of the cup to keep it open.
  • Prepared baking sheet by placing a piece of parchment paper on the sheet.
  • Dip the pretzel rods into the piping bag full of chocolate as high up as you can.
  • Place the dipped pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • To dip your pretzel twists, melt your chocolate in a bowl instead of a piping bag and use a fork to dip them in the melted chocolate.
  • Let the rods and twists set on the parchment paper for about 15 minutes.
  • When your pretzels have set completely, snip a corner of the piping bag and gently squeeze the bag over the pretzels back and forth to create a wrapped mummy pattern.
  • Add candy eyes immediately before the chocolate hardens.
  • Let the pretzels set for 30 minutes before serving or storing.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you find that your chocolate is feeling too thick to dip, you can add a bit of oil to help it thin out so dipping is easier. Add a teaspoon at a time and stir until the oil is incorporated. Just make sure that you pick an oil similar to coconut oil or vegetable oil that doesn’t have a strong flavor.
  • Here’s a little trick to keep your chocolate from hardening in the bag as you dip your pretzels. Before you add your bag to a cup, fill that cup with warm water! The warm water will keep the chocolate from setting so that you can dip well and still use the bag to pipe the mummy design at the end.
  • I almost always put these dipped pretzels in a bag for little treats for parties or even trick-or-treaters. If you want to bag them up, grab some tall treat bags, place a few rods and twists in, and tie them up with a festive ribbon. They should stay fresh in a bag for a few days!

Storage

Keep your dipped pretzels in a bag or storage container for up to 5 days. You can also keep them in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
