How to Play Camping Bingo
The great thing about bingo games are that they are super easy to play!
Start by printing off the calling cards and bingo sheets. Cut out the calling cards and place them in a bowl. Give each of your players a bingo sheet as well as whatever you will be using to mark the spaces. If you laminate the sheets you could use a dry erase marker. Other options for space savers could be little tokens, coins, buttons, small candies, and more. Feel free to be creative – that’s part of what makes this so fun!
Once everyone is set up, begin selecting a calling card from the bowl and stating what is on it. The players will search for the matching item on their bingo sheets and cover it with their spacesaver.
The first player to get five in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) calls out “bingo!” The player then reads back what items made up the bingo. If the items match what the caller called, that player wins that round!
You can keep the tokens on the board and try for second place or you can clear the boards and start fresh. You can also have the players rotate boards with each other to keep things new!
Raise the Stakes by Giving Out Prizes!
What kid or teen doesn’t love winning a fun toy or treat? Even small prizes add to the fun and entice players to join the game. Some other ideas for prizes could be stickers, a yummy dessert, a bouncy ball or other toy, or even $5 dollar gift cards.
Benefits of Playing Camping Bingo
Bingo games are an easy way for your kids to learn while having fun at the same time!
Playing this game can start conversations on the items on your bingo sheet. This promotes good social skills and bonding time.
Playing bingo games can also help teach your kids how to follow instructions. It’s a great literary practice as well, as your kids will practice word recognition.
Playing games, in general, helps your kids to practice being a good sport whether they win or lose the game. This quality is so important to foster as it will help your kids as they get older to understand the different ways life goes sometimes.
