4th of July Layered Sparkling Drink
Who doesn’t love a fun 4th of July Drink! What’s even better is that this 4th of July drink is kid friendly!

Ingredients
Lots of Ice
Red Soda with high sugar content – Red Mountain Dew or Faygo work best
Clear Soda such as 7up or Sprite
0 Sugar Blue Gatorade or Powerade (Needs to be Zero Sugar!)
When making this kid-friendly fourth of July Drink you will want to make sure that you are checking how much sugar is in each drink you are buying. No! We are not being health conscious this time! But we are checking to make sure the drink layers right!
You see, sugar always goes to the bottom, so if they all had the same sugar amount then they would all mix, making it a non-layered sparkling drink. Tasty perhaps but not nearly as pretty! So the one with the most sugar goes to the bottom, and the one with no sugar hangs out on the top and the other one hangs out in the middle! Just have fun with all the different drink options, but check the sugar amount before pouring!
Instructions for 4th of July Layered Sparkling Drink
You will first want to start by filling each glass all the way to the top with ice. This is important because with the ice cubes all the way to the top it really helps keep your layers exact!

Next pour the Red Soda slowly into the glass, Fill until the glass is ⅓ full. When I do this I like to slightly tilt the glass while pouring in the red drink, this helps to avoid staining ice cubes red!

After you have the red soda in your glass rotate the glass, and fill with your Sprite or 7-up until the glass is ⅔ full. As you pour the clear soda in I have found that it works best when you pour it over a large ice cube and as slow as you possibly can manage!

Now for your final layer of your kid-friendly 4th of July drink, the BLUE! Slowly pour in your zero sugar blue sports drink!

There you have it your layered sparkling drink perfect for 4th of July! But don’t forget your 4th of July Craft straw to really tie your drink together! (instructions below!)
4th of July Craft Straws

What I love about these 4th of July Craft straws is that they are so easy to make! My older kids and I can whip these out in no time flat for everyone that will be at the 4th of July party, but yet they are simple enough for little kids to do as well!
It makes for a great Fourth of July craft during the party to entertain the kids, but yet keep track of whose drink is whose
Supplies

Paper Straws (Red, White, Blue, Silver)
Paper (Red and Blue)
Stickers (Stars, flags, fireworks)
Instructions for your 4th of July Craft Straws:

First, you will want to grab your scissors and cut your paper into a long strip. The width is completely up to you!

Then you will cut each strip down the center widthwise to create to shorter pieces.

About 1 inch from the top of the straw, wrap one piece of the paper around the straw and secure it with the tape or glue, whichever you prefer.
Pro Tip! If we are having kids make these fourth of July craft straws at the party I usually will do everything up until this point ahead of time! I will just make a bunch and let them pick which one they like best to cut and decorate! Saves mom from spending all day at the kid craft table!
After this is secured to the straw, go ahead and cut an inverted triangle into the edge. You can get really creative with this set! Pick up some fancy scissors or cut some fringe! The possibilities are really endless.
Apply stickers or write on the flags! The possibilities are endless!

There you have it! You are all set with your 4th of July Craft Straw!
