  • Melt the butter in a pan on low heat.
  • Once the butter is melted, then add the marshmallows to the pan and stir slowly until melted, keeping the heat low. Melting the butter and marshmallow slowly is the SECRET to perfect Rice Krispies treats! When you melt the butter and marshmallow slowly it makes a perfectly soft delicious treat, but if you try to rush it… think microwave or high heat you will end up having hard Rice Krispie treats, and no one wants that!

A great way to manage the stickiness is to either butter a spatula or spray it with cooking spray to combat the stickiness. By doing this it makes it so much easier to work with!
  • After you have smoothed your Rice Krispies into the 9×13 pan then you will melt your white chocolate.
  • On low power, melt the white chocolate in 15-second intervals. Stir carefully between each interval and continue until chocolate is completely melted.

  • Then gently pour both packages of Pop Rocks evenly over the chocolate. Again, use as few or as many Pop Rocks as you desire and like.
  • Next, it is time for your red, white, and blue sprinkles because it’s not a Rice Krispie treat in our home without sprinkles!
  • If you are in a hurry to eat (or cut) this easy fourth of July recipe, you can pop them in the fridge for a few minutes to harden the chocolate, but don’t leave them in there for too long!
