Valentine’s Day Minute to Win It Games
Sweethearts Relay Race
You will need:
- Bowls of Conversation Hearts
- Empty bowls
- Spoons (can be smaller for more challenge, or large for an easier game)
How to play Sweethearts Relay Race:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Place the bowls of Conversation Hearts on one side of the room, and the empty bowls on the other. You can set up obstacles like pillows or chairs to make the game even more challenging!
- Teams race to get their Conversation Hearts from one bowl to the next. There are many ways you can do this. Members of teams can take turns filling their spoon and running them to the other bowls, then handing off the spoon to another team member. One member of each team can try to get as many as they can in a minute. Choose what is best for your family!
- Whichever team has the most Conversation Hearts in their bowl at the end of the minute wins!
Don’t Lose Your Heart
You will need:
- 7 Conversation Hearts per player
- Popsicle Sticks
How to play Don’t Lose Your Heart:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Each player gets a popsicle stick and places it in their mouth. They also receive 7 Conversation Hearts.
- Players race to stack their Conversation Hearts on their popsicle stick. If they drop their hearts, they can pick them up and start again.
- Any player who has all 7 hearts stacked by the end of the minute gets a point!
Suck Up the Candy Hearts
You will need:
- Straws for each team/individual
- Conversation Hearts
- Pie tin or plate
How to play Suck Up the Candy Hearts:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Each team tries to suck up the Conversation Hearts with their straws, and move it to the plate or pie tin.
- For added challenge, place the plate or pie tin on a separate table.
- The team with the most Conversation Hearts on their plate or pie tin wins!
Put a Ring On It
You will need:
- Rubber bands large enough to easily fit around the toilet paper roll. We used heart shaped “Silly Bands” I found at the Dollar Tree!
- 3 Toilet paper rolls or another cylinder taped to a posterboard or the table so they don’t fall over
How to play Put a Ring On It:
- To prepare, set up your cylinders. Taping them down helps when the game begins.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players race to throw their rubber bands to land around the toilet paper roll.
- Players get 1 point per rubber band they get around their toilet paper roll.
Valentine’s Day Scattergories
You will need:
How to Play Valentine’s Day Scattergories:
- Play in teams or as individuals.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Choose a letter from the letter cards and a category card.
- Players have 1 minute to write down as many words from these categories as they can.
- Players get 1 point for each word they successfully connect with their letter.
Pour Out Your Heart
You will need:
- Conversation Hearts
- Cup
How to play Pour Out Your Heart:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Place 5 conversation hearts in each player’s cup. It’s important that your candies only have sayings on one side.
- Players take turns shaking their cups and rolling their hearts out like dice. The goal is to get all their conversation hearts saying side up. If they have some hearts where the saying isn’t showing, they put all their hearts back in their cup and try again!
- Players get a point if they get all 5 conversation hearts saying side up within 1 minute.
Heart Dance
You will need:
- Conversation Hearts
- Empty tissue box with string or yarn attached to it to securely tie it around your waist
How to play Heart Dance:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Fill the tissue box with Conversation Hearts candies and securely tie it around the waist of the contestant.
- Players try to shake as many hearts out of their tissue box as they can. They cannot use their hands.
- If your box is empty by the time the timer goes off, you get a point!
Heartstring
You will need:
- 5 Conversation Hearts each of 4 different colors, 20 in total.
- Cup
- Piece of String
How to play Heartstring:
- To prepare, put all 20 conversation hearts in a cup for each player and give each player a piece of string.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players roll out their conversation hearts onto the table like dice.
- They race to sort their conversation hearts into the 4 different colors using only their string. They cannot touch the conversation hearts with anything besides the string.
- Players who sort all 20 of their conversation hearts before the minute is up gets a point.
Don’t Drop the Hearts
You will need:
- Spoons for each team/individual (use a smaller spoon for an easier game)
- Conversation Hearts
- 2 Bowls for each team/individual (or plates. Plates are easier)
How to play Don’t Lose the Hearts:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Place 5 candy hearts in one bowl on one table. Place the empty bowl across the room.
- Players must place the spoon in their mouth, and try to scoop out the candy hearts, one by one, and race them to the bowl across the room.
- Teams or individuals who get all 5 Conversation Hearts across the room get a point!
Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve
You will need:
- 8 Conversation Hearts for each Player
How to play Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Each player holds their arm out in front of them and races to stack the heart candies on their arm. If they drop their candies, they can pick them up and start again.
- Anyone who gets their candies stacked on their arm in the minute gets a point!
Heart Stack
You will need:
- Conversation Hearts
- Chopstick or tweezers
How to play Heart Stack:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players race to stack their conversation hearts in a tower using only their chopsticks or tweezers. If their tower falls over, they can start over.
- The player with the tallest tower at the end of 1 minute gets a point!
Heart Racing
You will need:
- Paper Bag
- Ping Pong balls (with a Red Heart drawn on or with a heart sticker if you’d like a more Valentine’s Day theme)
How to play Heart Racing:
- Set up your paper bag on a table, about 3 feet from where players will play.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players race to bounce their ping pong balls into the paper bag.
- The player with the most balls in their bag at the end of the minute gets a point!
Blowing Kisses
You will need:
- 10 paper cups
- Pink or red balloon
How to play Blowing Kisses:
- Set up a pyramid of paper cups, with 4 on the bottom row, 3 above it, 2 above it, and 1 on the top.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players race to blow up their balloon and use the air from the balloon to blow down their pyramid. They can blow up their balloon as many times as they need, but cannot use anything else to knock down their cups.
- Anyone who knocks down all their cups before the minute is over gets a point.
Stomping on My Heart
You will need:
- Heart Shaped balloons with a string tied to it
How to play Stomping on My Heart:
- Tie a balloon to each player’s ankle.
- Set a timer for 1 minute
- Players have 1 minute to stomp on their balloon until they pop it. You can wear shoes if you’d like, but you don’t have to.
- Any player who pops their balloon by the end of 1 minute gets a point.
Pass the Hearts
You will need:
- 2 Popsicle sticks (or spoons for an easier game)
- Conversation Hearts
- Bowl
How to play Pass the Hearts:
- This game requires 2 people to play, so it wouldn’t be a good fit for individuals.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Place the Conversation Hearts in one bowl, and the empty bowl across the room.
- Pairs put the popsicle sticks in their mouths, and one person puts a candy heart on their popsicle stick.
- Players race to put the candy heart on their popsicle stick, walk across the room, pass the candy heart to their partner’s popsicle stick (also in their mouth) and then their partner places the candy heart into the empty bowl. If they miss the bowl, it doesn’t count.
- The team with the most candy hearts successfully in their bowl at the end of 1 minute wins.
Pick Up the Heart
You will need:
- Conversation Hearts
- Chopsticks
- 2 plates
How to play Pick Up the Heart:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Put 10 Conversation Hearts on one plate.
- Players will use their chopsticks to pick up one candy heart at a time and move them to the other plate. For the simplest game, put the plates next to each other. For a more challenging version, put the plates across the room from each other.
- Any player who gets all 10 of their candy hearts from one plate to the other gets a point.
Cupid Slide
You will need:
- Conversation Heart boxes
How to play Cupid Slide:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players stand at one end of the table and try to slide the box across the table, getting as close to the other side as they can without falling off the other end.
- The player who gets the closest to the end without falling off the other side at the end of 1 minute gets a point.
How Many Kisses?
You will need:
- Hershey’s Kisses
How to play How Many Kisses:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players use one hand to unwrap as many Hershey Kisses as they can in one minute. If you want, you can have players eat their kisses as well.
- The player who has unwrapped the most kisses in 1 minute gets a point.
Heart Toss
You will need:
- Conversation Hearts
- Plastic cup
How to play Heart Toss:
- Split into pairs.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players stand 5 feet from each other. One holds the cup and the other has the Conversation Hearts. The player with the candies tries to throw as many hearts as they can into the cup before the minute is up.
- The team with the most heart in their cup at the end of the minute wins a point for each player.
The “Needle” in the Heart Stack
You will need:
- Container with Conversation Hearts
How to play The Needle in the Heart Stack:
- To prep, choose 1 saying like “Be Mine” and remove all those from your container of Conversation Hearts. Add one of your chosen saying to the bowl and mix so that the chosen saying is hidden.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players have 1 minute to find their chosen saying.
- Any player who finds the heart with their chosen saying by the end of the minute gets a point.
Matchmaker
You will need:
- 10 plastic cups
- 8 pieces of Valentine’s Day candies (2 of each kind). This could be conversation hearts, Sweethearts, red gummy hearts, etc.
How to play Matchmaker:
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Place the 8 pieces of candy under 8 cups and shuffle with the two empty cups.
- Players try to match the candies under the cups, like playing a matching game. They can only flip 1 cup at a time, and if the 2 cups don’t have matching candy, both must go back over the candy before the player can check under another one.
- If players match all the candies before the end of the minute, they get a point.
Candy Heart Shake
You will need:
- 5 plastic or paper cups
- 15 conversation hearts
- Cardstock
- Tape/glue
How to play Candy Heart Shake:
- Before you gather to play, put 1 candy heart in one cup, 2 in another, 3 in another, 4 in another and 5 in another. Cover the opening with cardstock and tape/glue, noting how many each cup has. I labeled mine A, B, C, D and E, and I knew how many each had.
- Set a timer for 1 minute.
- Players take turns shaking the cups to try to determine how many candy hearts are in each. They will order them by how many candy hearts they think each has.
- If the player guesses all 5 correctly, they get a point!
