How To Play Birthday Charades
- First, print and cut out your charade idea cards. Place the birthday charade idea cards in a bowl and mix them up.
- Then, decide how you are going to divide into 2 or more teams. The larger the group, the more teams are recommended so all have a chance to guess and play.
- Decide which team goes first. Flip a coin, guess a number, or who has the tallest player. It’s up to you how you decide!
- It is then time to play. The first team will have one minute to act out / guess the clue.
- If the team guessing does not guess correctly, then the other team has one guess for the opportunity to steal the point.
- Remember, the first shouted answer becomes the team’s guess, so don’t forget to discuss the answer with your team before shouting it out.
- The game ends when:
- A team has reached a set amount of points.
- Everyone has had a chance to act out a charade.
- There are no more charade card ideas.
- The winning team is the one with the most points at the end.
Tips And Tricks for Playing Charades
Here are some ideas for playing birthday charades and determining the rules before playing:
- Decide whether the winning team gets a prize. If so, have a prize ready.
- Use time limits to keep the game from running too long. You can use them to limit the time to guess and/or the total time you play the game.
- Let the guessing team know how many words there are by holding up the number of fingers at the beginning of a round.
- Keep the gestures simple.
- Remember not to use sounds or words; it is all about actions and movements.
- Remember to have fun and be silly. Get into the spirit and act out the charade idea.
