How to Play Camping Charades
Charades is so simple to play, even younger kids are able to join in on the fun!
To get started, download the list of Camping Charade ideas below. It is so helpful to print them out, cut them up, laminate for extra durability, and place them in a bowl to choose from.
To start, you can divide the group into two teams or more, or you can have everyone play on one team. Playing as one team is a great option if you have a lot of younger kids so everyone has fun playing.
You will want to choose someone to be a scorekeeper as well as a timekeeper for each team at this time as well. Don’t worry these people can still play as well. When it comes to the timekeeper you are watching the time for the other team not your own.
Once all of that is settled, you can begin playing! If you have two teams, have a representative from team one to be the first actor. That person will choose a camping charade card from the bowl.
The actor will have a certain amount of time to act out the card (you can set any time, but usually one to two minutes is a good amount of time). To make it less competitive for younger audiences, you can pass on the timekeeping.
The actor cannot use words, sounds, or point to objects while he or she is acting. The actor’s teammates will be trying to guess the word or phrase during the time. If the team guesses correctly before the time is up, that team gets a point. If the team does not guess correctly, no points are awarded at that time.
The teams alternate turns. Each time a team is up, they will send up a different actor to make sure that everyone has a chance to act and participate.
