Trivia games are like Monopoly…they can go on forever! Which is ideal when I’m hoping to enjoy time spent gathered together as a family. 90’s trivia is my favorite because I think I should know all the answers, having grown up in the 90’s, but I don’t! My kids get the best laughs when they are able to beat me at trivia–especially 90’s trivia.

We also love The Best Trivia Questions for Kids, State Trivia, and Animal Trivia. If you’re looking for a giant collection, check out The Best Trivia Games to Play In-Person or Online!

Why I Love Trivia Games

I love trivia games because they engage my entire family! We are able to choose from a variety of topics, and they’re portable. We can take trivia with us wherever we are going. The doctor’s office, the park, walking, road-tripping, evening snuggles, and even in the airport. It’s a way to teach my children about history, science, the world around them, and the childhood my husband and I enjoyed while being fun for all of us!

How to Play Trivia

Each right answer is worth one point. Each team gets ten questions to answer then we switch to the other team. The first team to reach a specific number of points wins! We change the specific number of points based on how much time we have, how old the kids are that are playing with us, and how many questions we have available. The only rule: no yelling!

Benefits of trivia games

Improves memory: studies have shown that trivia can improve memory. Who doesn’t want to have a better memory?

  • Decreases stress: playing a game can be soothing and also distract us from the things that are weighing us down, making trivia an excellent way to decompress.
  • Fosters communication: anytime we together and talking, I count it as a win!
  • Teaches teamwork: when we play trivia in teams, we learn to work together to help a teammate understand the question or help them answer their question, the opportunities for helping each other are readily available.
  • Builds sportsmanship: sometimes it’s a “Good job!” to an opponent or voluntarily allowing a sibling to win, I love seeing my family develop positive sportsmanship skills.
  • Variety: we have so many trivia topics like Spring Trivia, Star Wars Trivia, and Fascinating 4th Grade Trivia. It’s endless fun and educational!

how to improve your trivia skills

The best way? Soak up knowledge everywhere you go! Visiting museums, reading books, watching documentaries and movies, listening to stories from other people….and doing lots of trivia are great ways to get better. The more you learn, the more trivia games you’ll win. Booyah!
