~This is a Collaboration Post.
So, when we first fall pregnant, the last thing on our minds is the actual process of having to give birth. We know that it’s going to happen somewhere along the line, but we don’t actually think about the whole process.
We’re so filled with joy and happiness for the first few months, that we don’t even consider the ordeal at the end. Then, all of the sudden, it hits. We realize we’re going to have to actually go through labor. There’s no way of getting around it, it’s coming.
Then comes the anxiety, which can be so severe for some people that the prospect of actually giving birth gives them panic attacks. Well, we want to knock those anxieties out of the park. We think we know a few great ways that you can relax about the whole process, and allow yourself to look forward to the birth, rather than dread it. So, have a read on to find out more.
Find Where You’ll Be Comfortable
Don’t think that you have to give birth in a hospital. For a lot of women, it’s the thought of actually being in a hospital and having to give birth in that environment that gives them the creeps, when there are so many other options that you could go for.
Rather than just being in a hospital, you could go to a specialist birthing center. They’re great if you’re looking for somewhere that’s still a medical facility, but it geared towards birthing and women’s health. You feel so much more secure somewhere like this, and it really doesn’t feel like a hospital at all.
You could also go for the home birth option. Some people love the sound of this, some people hate it. If you were to go for this option, you would have to make sure you had a midwife on standby for when labor began, and you would need a clear and very clean space for the birth to take place. It will get messy, but the comfort of being at home is what some women look for!
Birthing classes are just something else. If you haven’t been to one before, then we can assure you that it will really open your eyes to the whole process. Which in our opinion, is what you need. Sometimes you just need to know everything as it will happen to you, however graphic that may be.
Birthing classes aren’t that expensive, and you only need to go to one or two to prepare you. It’s a good idea to take your partner as well, as they’ll be with you through most of the birthing process!
Fill Yourself With Facts
Some of this can be done at the birthing classes, but you can also talk to your midwife, and look at trusty Google to get the facts that you need. We’re talking facts like what to do when you go into labor, what to pack to take with you, any warning signs to look out for etc.
The more you know, the more you’re going to feel comfortable about the day, and comfort is what we’re trying to achieve here!
