Tips and Tricks for Easy One Bowl Banana Bread Recipe

  1. If you want to add in nuts, chocolate chips, and/or raisins before baking if you desire a mix of flavors.
  2. Using bananas that are older makes it easier to mash the bananas and will make your bread sweeter.
  3. Use room temperature butter if you can. This will make it easier to mix and incorporate into the other ingredients.
  4. Be careful not to over mix your batter! Over mixed batter creates air pockets in the bread while cooking and make the loaf hard and tough.

Can I freeze this one bowl banana bread recipe?

Yes! In fact, this loaf would freeze really well! After cooking, let your bread cool and then wrap several times with plastic wrap. Then put the loaf in a gallon-sized freezer bag. Throw the loaf in the freezer and it can stay good in there for 2 to 4 months!

When you’re ready to eat your yummy loaf, keep it in the packaging and you can either leave it at room temperature for a few hours, or you can thaw it in the refrigerator overnight.

What kind of bananas should I use?

When making easy one bowl easy banana bread recipe you should use bananas that are a nice yellow (no green!) and that have a good amount of dark spots. Now, I know that sometimes it can be hard to wait for a few days or a week to get that nice over-ripe banana that is perfect for banana bread but those are the best to use and it is worth the wait.

What if I don’t have a loaf pan?

No loaf pan, no problem! This recipe also makes really great banana muffins. The only thing you need to change is the pan and the baking time. Cook at 350 for 18 to 20 minutes. Make sure to grease your muffin pan or use cupcake liners. You can also check to see if they’re done in the same way you would check to see if the loaf is done, by inserting a toothpick in the middle and if it comes out clean, then it’s done!

Are there any toppings I can add?

Yes! Banana bread is so yummy and versatile! There are quite a few different toppings that you could add to change the flavor around and make it even more delicious! Some of my favorite toppings include

  • Nuts (specifically walnuts)
  • Streusel (just crumble together 3 Tbsp of sugar, 3 Tbsp flour, 1 Tbsp of butter, and ½ tsp cinnamon)
  • Brown sugar
  • Cream cheese frosting
  • Chocolate chips
  • Blueberries
  • Toasted coconut

Sprinkle your desired toppings on the loaf right before you put it in the oven and bake as recommended in the recipe.

How should I eat my banana bread?

I love eating my banana bread with a cream cheese spread! It is really delicious that way, but you can eat it however you like. You can top with butter, toasted coconut, or jam. They’re all really delicious. You could even make a sandwich with your banana bread if you’d like.
