Fall is here and if you are like me you are searching your closet desperately for something to wear! Some of us are lucky and find exactly what we are looking for, others like me, run into the problem of clothes that don’t fit, others that are stained, and some that are just plain worn out! When this occurs, I have visions of replacing everything with a brand new wardrobe, but reality then sets in as I realize I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on clothes each season.

In recent years, a new trend has hit the internet which is secondhand clothing sites. I will be honest that I have always been 100% a skeptic when it comes to buying second-hand clothes, especially online! This fall I teamed up with ThredUP! To see what all the hype was about when it comes to #secondhandfirst to see if the quality and wear was how they stated it was online and to see if I could really save up to 90% off regular prices!
History of ThredUP!
In 2008 the vision of ThredUP! Was born when co-founder James Reinhart had nothing to wear. In 2009 it became a pilot program with the online sharing of men’s shirts and has now turned into the largest online marketplace to buy and sell women’s and kids’ second-hand clothes.
I put my shopping skills to the ultimate test as I embarked on an adventure on the ThredUP! Website to find some new looks for this fall season! ThredUP prides themselves on triple checking items for signs of wear such as fading, pilling and stains. They also ensure that the zippers are all working and there are no missing buttons. Lastly, they pride themselves on the fact that you will be able to find in-season, on-trend styles from some of your favorite brands!
With that in mind, I headed to the jeans section of their website and searched from Joe Jeans as well as Paige Denim, my two favorite jean brands.
ThredUP’s selection in my size was very impressive for a second-hand store! In fact, I had more of a selection on their website than I do in any store. Each pair was carefully marked with the condition of the jeans, ranging from with tags to condition reports as detailed as “This item is gently used with minor signs of wear (wear on inside)”I found a pair of Joe Denim Jeans that I loved that were $31.99 (normally well over $100) with a report of “minor fading. I also picked up several skirts for my wardrobe ranging from $3.99 to $7.99. These were brands such as Merona, DKNY, H&M and Old Navy. All these had great condition reports. I grabbed a pair of shoes and a few tops and walked away with a subtotal of $130.56, but wait! What is great about ThredUP is they usually have coupons! All you have to do is enter your code to save even more! When I entered my code I got 40% off, spending only $80.56 on 1 pair of designer jeans, 1 pair of shoes, 7 skirts, 5 shirts, and 4 kid’s items! Don’t worry! Stay tuned! I have a coupon code for you too!
My package arrived and I was so excited to open it, investigate and try on because remember I was a skeptic! Each item I pulled out lived up to exactly what the website said. The pants did have minor fading, but that was the design of the jeans! The shirts were all in great condition and appeared to be unworn… Even though they were used. The shoes fit perfectly and again looked brand new. The shirts are some of my favorites now and fit true to size based on the brands I bought. I have worn all the clothes that I purchased, washed them, and they still are amazing. The pants will be my go-to favorite this fall!
Will I ThredUP Again?
I think when trying new products the ultimate question to ask yourself is, “Would I do it again?” Many of us might shrug our shoulders and wonder or some might say I think so… But I can tell you that I already have ThredUp’ed (is that even a word) again and I am so excited for my next box to get here! I was nervous things might not fit great, but they do have a great return policy, “You have 14 days after receiving your order to decide if you want to keep or return your items. Handbags and final sale items are non-returnable. However, we do guarantee the quality and authenticity of handbags.” They do ship to all 50 states and even internationally (Check website for specific countries).
Now is YOUR TURN to SAVE!
As I said earlier, I teamed up with ThredUP! To test out if they were all what they were cracked up to be, and it was! I will definitely come back again and again, especially to buy name brand jeans at rock bottom prices!
