There is Sunshine in My Soul #10

There is sunshine in my soul

With it being the Saturday before Thanksgiving I have really thought about the things that I am truly thankful for in my life! As I was trying so hard this week to get lots of tasks done before the kids are home all next week from school. I looked around my house and saw huge piles of laundry on the kitchen table (yes, that’s where I fold clothes), toys everywhere as well as stacks of books that Talie sat and looked at while I tried to get things done… Normally, I would have freaked out that the house was a disaster, but I thought to myself these are the moments I will miss this. There will be a point where my table will be empty with no clothes on it except for mine and my husbands; there will be a point where toys won’t be scattered around the floor because they will be too old for Little People and pushing pink shopping carts… and the books… the hours and hours that Talie spends “reading” to herself or begging someone else to read to her. I am so thankful to have a home that is lived in and loved…

Tony hit a big milestone in his life this week! We finally have a mobile baby… just in time to attack the Christmas Presents! He is rolling! It is funny… He has always hated laying on his stomach, so naturally one day as I was busy doing something else and I heard him screaming (crying really, but it is like screaming) and I rushed in there to find him stranded on his stomach… I wondered just how he got that way because Talie has been known to “help” Tony before, so I rolled him back over and lo and behold I saw it… My sweet little caboose rolled over! Of course, he cried again and wanted to roll back over… We repeated this process about a million times! He can roll both ways, but prefers of course to just scream on his stomach… It’s his way to let me know he is still there, I think ;). I am grateful for these memories…

We also had another milestone this week! My sweet husband turned 40! He might kill me for telling you all, but that is ok… It’s our little secret, right? πŸ™‚ I am so thankful for him and the example he sets, the hard worker he is, and the amazing dad he is to our kids… I love him, even though I might get a little annoyed with him every now and again. πŸ™‚

The boys leave today to go visit there dad and their other siblings… This is bittersweet to me because I love that they love to go see their dad, but I miss them so much when they are gone! They are such amazing boys!

We are excited to see Taya this week because we haven’t been able to see her since the summer because of school. I am sure we will get to do lots of fun things! She is so fun to do art projects with! I might have to recruit her to help me with our upcoming Blogmas! Oh, what is Blogmas you ask, well… I will tell you in just a few days, but I can tell you, you aren’t going to want to miss it! So if you haven’t subscribed yet… Be sure to do that!

What are your plans this week for Thanksgiving? Are you headed to family? Are they coming to you? Will it be a nice quiet celebration? Are you headed out and about for Black Friday Shopping? Whatever you do… enjoy the time, create memories that will last a lifetime and be safe!

There is sunshine in my soulThis week football officially ended for our family for the season! Colby’s team went undefeated for the year as well! We are so proud of the way he played all year. After the season officially ended we took a little jaunt up to Bricktown, Oklahoma to get a few things done that needed to be done STAT. πŸ˜‰ It was supposed to be a relaxing day and a half, but let’s just say sleep was not on our side as Talie thought it was time to play until 11 or 12 every night… The joys of motherhood in a hotel room!

We had some fun in the hotel room though! If you are on Instagram or Twitter you probably saw our. fun time had by all in the hotel room… If you didn’t here it is!

Talie was a little mischievous as well standing in the window and apparently hitting the emergency button on the phone… Yep, security came up to our room and told us that the cops were probably going to check on us as well… I swear we waited until it was time to go to dinner we couldn’t miss our reservation at the Melting Pot!

Yes, we took all the kids! Yes, it was delicious! Yes, it took 2.5 hours! Yes, the kids were good! Yes, we would take them again, they had a blast…

There is sunshine in my soulWow! So much has happened since last week! Let’s start with last Saturday… Chase played in his Super Bowl game! It was cold out there. His team fought hard, but they lost. I love Chase and his optimism… Lots of kids were sad after the game, but Chase’s comment to me was, “I’m just glad we made it to the Super Bowl!” I wish we could all be a little bit more like Chase… It would certainly be a more pleasant world.

After the game we headed to the car dealership… We ended up buying a Honda Odyssey. I am officially a Minivan driver again… It’s been many years, but honestly it just made the most since. It was more economical than a new SUV and it met all of our wishes and desires… Now I am on a learning curve trying to figure out how to drive it… I mean when did cars get so high tech? I literally hit a button to put the car in drive or reverse…

Colby had his second to last football game on Halloween. It was another great game. I love watching him because he is having so much fun this year. They won their game and are still undefeated with one tie… The last game of the season is this week, and this mama is ready for a vacation!

After the football game we ran home for about 30 minutes of trick or treating… So the pics are not the best because Colby was dirty and stinky πŸ™‚ I am not one to spend money on Halloween, so I make my kids be inventive, therefore we had a football player, a couch potato, a princess, and a pea pod!

Since Halloween Talie has learned the word bucket of candy and if she does not get her “bucket of candy” in a timely manner she might freak out just a little bit πŸ™‚

Have you been participating in the Grateful Photo challenge? My kids are loving thepictures they are taking. They love sharing them at the table. Each morning they are asking what they take pictures of that day and now come to the table prepared eager to share. Colby (13) is even editing some pics really having fun with it! I love seeing them finding gratitude in all things! Here are some of my kids gratitude pics!

football gear

So last week Chase played in the playoff game for their football league…

They won and Super Bowl Bound are headed to the Super Bowl today!

They are 8-0 and have had a fantastic season. It is so fun to watch him excel at something he enjoys. He now says he loves football and tackling is the best part! I ask him if he is going to play in middle school and he says, “No, there is too much running!” Um… last I checked he liked running :). Time will tell.

It is crazy to think that Halloween is next week! What are your kids going to be? IMG_0303We have a pea pod, a Princess who refuses to wear her dress, and two undetermined boys :). Colby has a football game on Halloween so it doesn’t leave much time for trick or treating. What are your kids going to be? Do you have any rules about trick or treating? One of mine is you can’t trick or treat after 12 unless it is with a younger sibling… But don’t worry I still buy them a bag of candy πŸ™‚

Soon we move onto the wonderful month of November! That means we will be headed home in a few weeks and I am so excited to go and see everyone! I love my family so much… I swear I am like a little kid in a candy store about it! This season has flown by…

So that brings us to what have I been grateful for this week!

Fall is in the air finally in Texas! It is nice to sit here with the windows open feeling the breeze! This week has again flown by with football games, playdates at the park, and painting the shed!

Yes, remember the shed we were building in the post Heaven Help Me! Not Another Home Improvement Project?Β We are finally to the painting part! And yes, we might have had to pull up the article for a refresher course when it was my turn to be in charge again πŸ™‚

I feel like life is starting to calm down a bit and I am finally headed out of mom funk. How has your mom funkΒ gotten since finding gratitude each day?

So that brings us to what have I been grateful for this week!

There is sunshine in my soul

This week I have had the opportunity to reflect about life. As we celebrated another birthday this week I realize just how quickly time flies by. As we were celebrating this special day I got word that one of my friend’s sons had passed away at age 14. As I got this news tears streamed down my face for how my friend’s family must feel, but then I read their message of how thankful they are that they will see their son again. What faith that they have in the eternal plan of our Heavenly Father. I have no idea what they are going through, but I can only imagine the pain and sadness they must feel without one of their children on this Earth anymore. I know you probably don’t know them, but please quietly say a prayer for them and all the parents that have lost children way too soon in this life. Let us all hug our children a little more today and be a little more grateful that they are pulling on our apron strings wanting up when we are trying to get something done.

Today I share with you what keeps me going on days like today.

There is sunshine in my soul

Octobers are so busy for us here and they always seem to fly by. This October is no different! With Colby’s 13th birthday yesterday and Chase turning 11 next week it is crazy here! Throw in football games and baseball and I am running around with my head cut off.. It makes me think of Trace Adkins song, “You’re Gonna Miss This”

Mom Life, My Life

There is Sunshine in My Soul #3

There is sunshine in my soulIt is sprinkling here today as I write this… This rain reminds me of my lifetime in California; it’s a drizzle here and there and not the typical Texas downpour that we normally get. It makes me miss home and my family even more than I do everyday… I wish we all lived close, but we are spread from coast to coast throughout the United States. Hopefully, one day we can all be close in proximity again.

When I miss home I begin to be a Debbie Downer, so it is so important for me to have sunshine in my soul this week!Β So

What have I been grateful for this week?
