Cooking Tips and Tricks and FAQ

  • You can spray your homemade air fryer pizza rolls with cooking spray if you prefer, but this tends to make them bubble a bit.
  • Pre-cook all meat prior to cooking.
  • Be sure you do not overstuff your air fryer pizza rolls. You will have an ooey-gooey cheesy mess if you do.
  • Try different types of pizza rolls! Make cheese, add veggies. Get creative with your rolls! You can even sub the sauce for pesto and make a pesto pizza roll, Yum!
  • If you don’t have an air fryer you can cook them at 350 degrees in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until brown and crispy. I recommend flipping at about 10 minutes.

What filings can I use for my pizza rolls?

The great thing about pizza rolls is that you can make them however you like! Some great options are:

  • Pepperoni
  • Ham
  • Sausage
  • Bacon
  • Pineapple
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Peppers

Just be sure you cook all the meat first and that you dice all the pieces so that it cooks evenly in the roll.

Can you make homemade pizza rolls ahead of time?

Yes, you can keep unbaked pizza rolls in the fridge for about a day. To do so, grab a cookie sheet and place a piece of parchment paper on the tray. Cover with plastic wrap (spray the plastic wrap first to prevent sticking).

To freeze follow the same process, but place in the freezer rather than the fridge. Once frozen you can move them to a freezer-safe bag. Try to remove as much air as possible. Remove from the freezer when ready to cook. Brush with olive oil and cook as normal.

Storage

If you have any leftover pizza rolls you will want to store them in the fridge in an airtight container.

To reheat throw them back in the air fryer to crispy them back up and reheat. You can also cook them in the microwave if you prefer that as well.
