How to Plan A Summer Vacation Everyone Will Enjoy

Summer can be a difficult time trying to decide where you want to go as a family. But with these tips, you can find something everyone will love!

~This is a collaboration post.

Summer vacation time is difficult when you have a family. We don’t need to tell you that, and you are probably picturing past moments now with horror and pent-up frustrations. No matter what you try and do, you are guaranteed to hear the familiar words “I’m bored” or “Do we have to” and that is bound to set your nerves on edge. The easiest thing to do, of course, is to not go anywhere at all during the summer. You could let your kids stay in their room playing video games if they ‘need’ that screen time.   As for you, you could spend your time outside soaking up the sun with a good book. But where’s the fun in that? Well, it depends on the book and video game, but don’t give up too easily.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your Summer vacation  without them getting bored.

Talk to Each Other

Early in your planning stages, get everybody together and brainstorm summer ideas. By finding out what each other wants from a vacation, you can find a destination that fits everyone. It’s all about compromise! And a little bit of research goes a long way! There are many beautiful places to visit, and you don’t have to forsake your idea of a beach holiday if your kids want something different.

One example is you could book a stay in the Caribbean resorts of the Dominican Republic. We recommend the Courtyard Santo Domingo – and look at the multitude of activities different members of the family can enjoy. You will love bathing on the warm and sunny beaches. While the kids can go paddle boarding and kayaking (or maybe it will be the other way round). Provided everybody has their share in the planned itinerary, you will keep everybody happy, most of the time.

Consider a Staycation

If your family is reluctant to get off the sofa for a long period, a staycation works just as well. This is also useful if you have anybody in your family who is adverse to long traveling times (don’t forget the sick bags). So, take a look at what is in your hometown. There may be plenty of activities for you and your kids to get involved in. You could visit a farm one day, head to the local park another, and do something that takes everybody’s interest the next. Again, some compromise will be needed but provided everybody has had a say in the plans, you won’t be hearing the words ‘I’m bored’ too often.

Take Away the Stress

Summer vacation time can be stressful, and that can take out a lot of the enjoyment for everybody. Therefore, plan to avoid stressful situations. This includes compromise as we have already mentioned, but don’t go anywhere that is going to cause problems. If anybody in your family has a fear of heights, then you probably shouldn’t book a trip to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. If large crowds are a problem for any of you, try and avoid popular tourist spots that tend to get busy. Don’t try and stick to a rigid itinerary, either. If you are all rushing from one place to another, tensions will get fraught. Instead, have some flexibility.  Allow for some downtime, and you should all have a more enjoyable time in each others company.

Finally

Whatever you do this summer, we hope you all have a fabulous time. Consider our tips, and if you have any other useful snippets of wisdom we could all benefit from, be sure to let us know. Thanks for reading.
